The Lagos Independent Power Plants Photo Project
Due to its size and population density, Lagos State needs at least 10,000MW to run efficiently, but at peak period from the national grid, under 1000MW is available for the state, leading to a significant shortfall in power supply.
To confront this challenge, the Lagos State Government has initiated one of the most aggressive energy development plans in the entire country, and at the core of this plan is the development of independent power plants. One by one, the state has successfully commissioned 5 power plants within 5 years in different parts of the city, with a total combined output of 47MW.
